Interview with Paul Young, author of The Shack

This book has caused its fair share of controversy. In the Christian community there are those who think this is the best story in ages and there are others who are concerned about the unBiblical theology.

Being a creative I wanted to find out about the creator. In my experience the creation always reflects the creator: a mirror of the soul.

I was delighted to interview Paul. He is one of the best interviewees that I have ever had. And he was so open to discuss areas of his life that have been extremely painful. When he explains why he wrote his description of God as he did and how his relationship with his own father had been difficult it gives clarity to his fictional story and his difficulties with accepting God as father.

As a writer myself I am convinced that real life is more interesting than fiction, but fiction can help us all come to terms with pain and life’s experiences.
